Midlife Crash Course: The Journey From Crisis to Full Creative Power by Gail Carr Feldman

Midlife Crash Course is a modern day primer for the new midlife (40's through 60's), those who thought they had it all figured out until one day life  presented a whole new set of challenges. Now it’s time to get ready for the test.

This rare first-hand account from a mental health professional is the story of a compelling journey from change, loss, trauma, and depression to rebirth, resilience, joy, and wisdom.

Longtime psychologist and former adjunct professor of psychiatry, Dr. Feldman has published six books and travels world wide giving talks on Creativity, the Heroine’s Journey, and Resilience. She has been featured on both radio and television, including Larry King Live.

The Resolution for Women by Priscilla Shirer

Written in partnership with Sherwood Pictures' upcoming film, COURAGEOUS, in The Resolution for Women, popular speaker and author Priscilla Shirer challenges all women to be intentional about embracing and thriving in God’s beautiful and eternal calling on their lives.

Like the men in the movie who resolve to fully accept their responsibilities before God, Shirer explains how today's women can and should live out their own resolution. It is "a defining banner that hangs over your life, written in the ink of your own choices." A woman's banner should be an accurate reflection of who she desires to be-someone completely Christ-centered who blesses and changes things in her world for the better.

The Resolution for Women inspires women with intentional, spirit-filled living from three unique angles. Section one, entitled, "This Is Who I Am," helps a woman define herself as "authentically me, purposefully feminine, surprisingly satisfied, and faithfully His." Section two, "This Is What I Have," invites her to value "my best, my blessing, my honor, and my heart." And Section three, "This Is What Matters To Me," focuses on joyfully honoring God as a wife, mother, and family member while resolving to live with the grace that leaves a godly legacy. The Resolution for Women is designed to inspire a revolution.

Football Wife: Coming of Age with the NFL as Mrs. Karl Kassulke by Jan Thatcher Adams, MD

There is an ever growing library of memoirs and biographies of professional football players. What is far more infrequent is a candid memoir penned by the wife of a professional football player. "Football Wife: Coming of Age with the NFL as Mrs. Karl Kassulke" is an exceptional example of just such an autobiography.

"Football Wife" is a story that incorporates drug abuse, alcoholism, marital infidelity, the impact of the cult of personality. It is also a personal history of a series of medical problems that began when Adams suffered a head injury in a traffic accident in 1985; spinal problems and a paralyzed leg in 2002; an undiagnosed severe illness in Russia in 2007 only to be followed by a diagnosis of cancer later that same year; reconstructive foot surgery in 2010; and the necessity of a pacemaker installed in 2011.

In "Football Wife" the reader is informed of the good times and the bad times, it is an remarkable account of struggle, failure, and ultimate redemption. A gripping read from beginning to end, "Football Wife" is deftly written, keenly insightful, occasionally inspiring, the singular life of a singular woman, and especially recommended reading for anyone struggling with familial issues complicated by medical traumas, and impacted by celebrity, success, and the siren call of hubris.

The Unfaithful Widow by Barbara Barth

The Unfaithful Widow is a collection of candid essays on finding joy again after the loss of a mate. With warmth and laughter no subject is taboo. From dealing with the funeral home (Can I show you our upgraded cremation package? I looked at Miss Death, was I booking a vacation?) to dating again (He ran in the door, looked at me and said "I've left something in my car". He never returned). Sprinkle in a bevy of rescue dogs (Finally a good nights sleep with someone new in my bed.) and those questions you hate to ask (Condoms anyone?). The Unfaithful Widow will steal a piece of your heart, tickle your ribs and make you feel good to be alive.

The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women: Why Capable People Suffer from the Impostor Syndrome and How to Thrive in Spite of It by Valerie Young

The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women: Why Capable People Suffer from the Impostor Syndrome and How to Thrive in Spite of It by Valerie Young

It’s only because they like me. I was in the right place at the right time. I just work harder than the others. I don’t deserve this. It’s just a matter of time before I am found out. Someone must have made a terrible mistake.

If you are a working woman, chances are this internal monologue sounds all too familiar. And you’re not alone. From the high-achieving Ph.D. candidate convinced she’s only been admitted to the program because of a clerical error to the senior executive who worries others will find out she’s in way over her head, a shocking number of accomplished women in all career paths and at every level feel as though they are faking it—impostors in their own lives and careers.

In The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women, Young gives these women the solution they have been seeking. Combining insightful analysis with effective advice and anecdotes, she explains what the impostor syndrome is, why fraud fears are more common in women, and how you can recognize the way it manifests in your life. With her empowering, step-by-step plan, you will learn to take ownership of your success, overcome self-doubt, and banish the thought patterns that undermine your ability to feel—and act—as bright and capable as others already know you are.

Untie the Strong Woman: Blessed Mother's Immaculate Love for the Wild Soul by Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Untie the Strong Woman: Blessed Mother's Immaculate Love for the Wild Soul by Clarissa Pinkola Estes

"Call her Our Lady, La Nuestra Señora, Holy Mother-or one of her thousands of other names," says Dr. Estés. "She wears hundreds of costumes, dozens of skin tones, is patroness of deserts, mountains, stars and oceans. Thus she comes to us in billions of images, but at her center, she is the Great Immaculate Heart."

With Untie the Strong Woman, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés invites us to reconnect with "the fierce and loving Blessed Mother who is friendly, but never tame-she who flies to our aid when the road is long and our hearts are broken, ever ready to rekindle the inner fire of our creative souls."

In her first book in more than a decade, Dr. Estés illuminates Our Lady through blessings, images, and narrative, including:

  • Stories of connecting with the Blessed Mother, including "Meeting the Lady in Red," and "Untie the Strong Woman"
  • Blessed Mother's many images from around the world, including "Litany of The Mother Road: A Chant of Her Incandescent Names;" "A Man Named Mary;" and "The Marys of Mother Africa"
  • The wild side of her love, including "Massacre of the Dreamers: The Maiz Mother;" "Holy Card of Swords Through the Heart;" and "Guadalupe is a Girl Gang Leader in Heaven"

"The Blessed Mother is often 'Friend to the friendless one' and Mother to all-yet too many of us have been estranged from her for far too long."

Untie the Strong Woman opens a channel to this sacred and nurturing force-"breaking through walls that have held us back from her presence, and instead, inviting us to shelter under her starry green mantle."

The Uterine Health Companion: A Holistic Guide to Lifelong Wellness by Eve Agee, Ph.D.

The uterus is a remarkable organ—it is our first home, contributes to women’s sexual pleasure, houses some of the strongest muscles in the body, and even helps prevent heart disease and high blood pressure. However, in the West, the uterus has generally been viewed as insignificant beyond reproduction and rarely receives our attention except when it becomes problematic or when we focus on getting pregnant or giving birth. Even though health-promoting strategies for organs like the heart and lungs have become common knowledge, preventative measures for lifelong uterine health have been largely absent from Western medical care. Consequently, one-third of all women in the United States will have a hysterectomy--the highest rate in the world.

In The Uterine Health Companion, anthropologist and holistic health expert Eve Agee reveals that women in many non-Western societies do not share our high rates of benign uterine problems or our negative attitudes about the uterus. Drawing on her research with women in the United States and abroad, Agee shows how traditional practices from other cultures can help create lasting health so that issues such as PMS, fibroids, and endometriosis do not have to be our destiny as women. Through poignant narratives as well as global insights, the book inspires us to develop new understandings about health and healing that affirm all women.

The Uterine Health Companion demonstrates why the uterus matters and how we can take care of it, from menarche to menopause—and beyond. A comprehensive holistic plan including nutrition, exercise, and visualization guides us to promote uterine wellness and enhance conventional medical therapies. Chapters dedicated to specific uterine issues illustrate how to support our health through simple daily practices and fundamental attitude shifts in our relationship to our bodies. The book also includes strategies for women who have had hysterectomies. This empowering resource offers a prescriptive, balanced approach to developing and maintaining optimal uterine health, for every woman at any stage of life.

Every Natural Fact: Five Seasons of Open-Air Parenting by Amy Lou Jenkins

Every Natural Fact: Five Seasons of Open-Air Parenting is a narrative of mother-and-son nature outings across the state of Wisconsin. In a style that blends the voices of Janisse Ray and Annie Dillard, a mother and son explore parallels in the world of people and nature. The interconnected chapters stand on their own and build upon each other. These explorations of natural history, flora and fauna, and parenting themes demonstrate that the mythic thread that winds through everything can still be found, even in a world of wounds. Amy Lou Jenkins' award-winning writing is rich in sensory immediacy, characterization, natural history, and humor.

As the Sycamore Grows by Jennie Miller Helderman

Imagine Foxfire living while Sleeping with the Enemy in the hills of Tennessee when the enemy totes a Bible and packs a .38. Mike shoved and slapped but his primary tools were isolation and economic abuse. Until he discovered the power of the Lord. As the Sycamore Grows is a nonfiction narrative about ending the legacy of abuse. Ginger McNeil was brought up to pray and obey, but she escaped the padlocked cabin in the woods where she lived off the land with no electricity or telephone. Today she’s a court advocate in the domestic court system. A briefcase-carrying professional woman. Her husband Mike admits the abuse, holds no remorse and would do it all again. God made women to serve, he says. It’s their job. Both Ginger and Mike speak, as do family, friends, ex-spouses and others. Thus Ginger is revealed as a flawed heroine who as a rebellious teenage bride abandoned her baby. Mike ran away from his father’s fists but years later glimpsed himself in his father’s casket. From south Texas to Tennessee the couple spiral down into poverty---by Mike’s choice---and abuse enforced by religion and a pistol. Threading through the story is loss: the alienation of families, a spiritual void from betrayal by their church, and the death of the son Ginger had abandoned. It’s this teenage boy’s suicide, symbolized by a sycamore tree, which becomes the wedge that allows Ginger to break free and ultimately work to help batterers change. Will Mike change? Will the legacy of abuse end?
